dracoqueen22For a change of pace (and a fandom I don't dare step into just yet) , I thought I'd share one of my favorite One Piece (and other fandom) authors today. I don't know if any of my f-list are fans of One Piece or Gundam Wing, but if you are, and haven't heard of this author, then you are truly missing out.

maldoror_gw has been one of my favorite authors since I stumbled upon her writing while cruising through the pages and pages of One Piece slash on the one piece yaoi community.
Her writing is smart, witty, occasionally amusing, and most definitely, involved. She's great at understanding the human condition and a lot of her stories have very unique twists at them. She's got great grammar, great world-building, and great characterization. Also, a rather amazing original work in progress. I've read some of it, and then I stopped because I preferred to wait until it was finished.
I found her through One Piece and then realized she wrote one of my all-time favorite Gundam Wing fics (A fandom I only read, never write, and have only seen a portion of the original material). Most notably, in One Piece, she tends to focus on the CP9 characters who are among my most FAVORITE characters in the whole series and there's not nearly enough good fic about them, with the emphasis on good here. I'd recommend anything she writes, but here are half a dozen of my particular favorites, ones I could read over and over.
Cold Dish: Strawhat-centered. Very dark. Very angsty. Heart-wrenching. With a reasonably happy ending pulled out of nowhere. It starts very confusing, but the past slowly trickles in, explaining things, and when the truth comes out, it tears you to pieces. Cold Dish is all about revenge. That it's from Sanji's POV (for the most part) is even better. I love Sanji. It's a oneshot split into two posts.
Like Steel for Chocolate: Strawhat-centered. SanjixZoro. Based a bit on the book/movie Like Water for Chocolate. Again, mostly Sanji's POV. Basically, Sanji's emotions are transferred into his food, and by it, to his crewmates. Humor and angst ensues with a sexy conclusion. Tugs your heart as much as it makes you laugh. Worth it everytime.
Hikaru: CP9 centered. Another fic that fucks with your brain. Makes you think it's full of OCs but in fact, it's not. It just has a tricky plot. One that makes you go whoah. My two favorites star here -- Lucci and Kaku -- and the end is wonderfully dark and dirty. Just the way I like it.
Alienation: CP9 Centric, Kaku-centric. One of those "character from anime/manga ends up in the real world/chaos ensues" type fics, only its handled with a sense of realism that makes me green with envy. I wish I could be this awesome. Also, it's LuccixKaku which just makes my heart all aflutter.
Up on the Peak: One word: ZoroxKaku. Hell yes. Two swordsmen, fighting with swords, fighting with other swords. *smirks* Also, in the end, Kaku "joins" the Strawhats, in such the way that Luffy recruits most of his companions -- he confuses them into accepting. It's hilarious, it's awesome. Zoro is so well written here, I'm jealous.
And finally, the Gundam Wing fic that makes my heart clench and my jealousy continue to seethe: Freeport. It's 2x5, aka DuoxWufei, and it's amazing. It's violent. It's harsh. It's full of political questions. It's sexy and it's frank, and if you don't know much about the Gundam Wing series, you can still enjoy it. I'd happily check out all of her other GW stuff, too.
