Just July

June was definitely a month. I feel like I accomplished things, but also that I blinked and it was over, so I'm not sure where the whole month went. lol

I definitely bent my focus to working on the Tethers universe and charged through a bunch of world-building for it. I edited out a huge backlog, and finished up a commission. I also made the decision to close commissions for now because I really just want to work on my own stuff. I need the money, but I feel like I need to focus on my personal ideas more.

Plans for July are to continue in much the same vein as June -- finish up short WIP pieces, edit A Tale of Two Geeks, worldbuild for Tethers, and if I can finally get their encounter mapped out, start writing arc one of Tethers. I've also got a massive amount of editing to do for Tethers, going back and updating the original fics so the language matches my worldbuilding now that Tethers is its own thing and not DND adjacent.

July is shaping up to be a pretty boring month, creatively speaking, but sometimes boring is good. Sometimes boring gets you on the right track. And sometimes you get smacked in the face by a surprising idea so.... -fingers crossed-
dracoqueen22: (mytimeisjustbeginning)
Phew. May was very, very productive. I completed so many things that I didn't expect to complete. I was on a roll! I finished three original fiction WIPs and started on two more. I made a plan of attack for a few other things, and powered through a couple of commissions.

May was a very good month! The only thing I didn't really accomplish was more editing on A Tale of Two Geeks, but since I wasn't feeling particularly focused on it, I didn't want to do a half-ass editing job, so I opted not to work on it.

Let's hope June can keep up the pace. Plans for June are to finish a couple more original short WIPs, get started on the first arc of Tethers, and dive right into my NaNo 2021 WIP. I hope to get it finished in the next couple of months, preferably before NaNo 2022 starts up. XD

And I hope to save up enough to keep buying art of my original characters. I want to see them all in the pretty, pretty hands of the best artists I can find.
dracoqueen22: (axelroxaslove)
Well, April was a whirlwind but the good kind of whirlwind.

I think I actually accomplished everything I set out to do in April! I got back the feedback on Loaf at First Sight and finalized it. I'll probably release it as a free read. I finished both first chapters of Death Deferred and All Things Considered. I also completed a standalone short story featuring a genderfluid unicorn shifter and a human. Despite how busy it was IRL, I accomplished my goals. Yayyyy!

So. What to do in May, hmm?

Let's see... my May goals will be to finish the rough first draft of Florian and Rhys' intro short story, the first time they meet. It's the prequel to the unfinished NaNo novel The Heist, and it's definitely a good starting point to introduce those characters. I'm about 2/3 of the way finished already so it's a reasonable goal for a month, too.

Working on A Tale of Two Geeks is so tedious because of the revising, but I think if I break it up a bit, it'll be easier. So for May I'd like to knock out at least thirty pages of Revision. That's a page a day just about. I think it's do-able and tackling it little by little will get it done faster than ignoring it. lol

And lastly, I think I'd like to figure out what the next short story I write would be -- either something set in the Tethers universe this time, or something set in Apocalypse Nigh. Ah, decisions, decisions. But I'm excited and that's what matters! ^_~
dracoqueen22: (axelroxaslove)
Phew. I swear the month's are passing by in a blink. It's already March and it feels like it should still be January, with me trying to figure out what I want to do with 2022.

Last month was productive and not-productive. I didn't get to mark anything off my list, but I did get things done, so we'll call that progress. I only got through about 2/3 of the A Tale of Two Geeks rewrite, but rewriting is so tedious. I couldn't make myself go any further, so I decided to work on a different project.

I got Fuss and Feathers sent out to folks for feedback so I can figure out what I'm going to do with it. So far the consensus is: good as is. So I'm going to tidy it up, add more details, etc. Then it'll be good for publishing or whatever. Not sure what I'll do. Release it for free or self-pub. I can't really afford a quality cover so I might just throw it into the universe for free. I'm undecided.

So in April, I plan to tackle Loaf at First Sight, another short story that will benefit from polishing and detail adding and worldbuilding. Then I'll send it out for feedback before deciding if I'll release it for free or try to publish it. Again, can't afford decent cover art, so I'll probably just release it for free. I don't expect to make any money anyway. XD

Two more goals in April --> To finish the first chapter of All Things Considered, one of my self-indulgent original pieces & to finish the first chapter of Death Deferred, another self-indulgent original fic loosely based on a Pathfinder game. I ported in the character I played from three separate ttrpg games, and then added two completely new characters. It's going to be very, very interesting.

Outside of that, I'll just kind of poke around at all my various projects to see what else wants my attention. I've been kind of restless and unfocused lately, so it'll be interesting to see what finally wins. :D
dracoqueen22: (axelroxaslove)
March is here, February is gone, and wow, 2022 is just zooming by faster than I could have expected.

February was very successful for me in terms of things I accomplished. I knocked out the final draft of Out of the Woods, and right now, it's pretty much ready for market, as soon as I slap a cover on that bad boy. I don't know when or if I'm actually going to publish it, but it's nice to have that done.

I also finished up Scars of Yesterday, and while I still need to edit for posting, it's done, and I no longer have that WIP hanging over my head. I also came to the executive decision to take a Transformers hiatus in hopes that taking a break will help the muses rest and revitalize for tackling the rest of my WIPs at a later date. I've been drifting away from TF fandom for months now, and it's been hard to stay inspired, but I hope a little hiatus followed by some binging of say TF Prime and MTMTE/LL will help reignite those muses. *fingers crossed*

I started working on the newest draft of the temporarily named A Tale of Two Geeks, and I'm hoping to have that finished by the end of March. I'm more or less rewriting it as I go -- some of the scenes have been completely revised, others just had some tweaking, I'm adding scenes and details as I go. I hope to get it in a state where I can then send it off to a couple of folks for some feedback about what else needs fixing. So that's my main goal for March.

I'll be hosting another prompt fest this month, so I'm looking forward to that.

I've also been jumping around a few original projects, working on first drafts for those. My completely self-indulgent fic "All Things Considered," another fantasy fic called "Death Deferred" featuring some characters from a Pathfinder campaign, and the introductory piece for Florian and Rhys from The Heist novel I worked on for NaNo 2021. I poke at all three here and there when I have the time.

Here's hoping March will be equally productive! <3
dracoqueen22: (mytimeisjustbeginning)

Or at least I hope it's going to be!

January was a bit of a slog month. Real-life issues adding to some depressive episodes made January very, very rough. Somewhat productive, but not as much as I wanted to be.

Hopefully February will be better, even with the dreaded birthday hitting this month. I don't like to be reminded of how much I'm getting older but not really accomplishing anything yet. Let's not dwell on that, however. Let's focus on what I'm going to do this month.

I'm thinking, first and foremost, I will do the final edits and bits for Out of the Woods. There's about 30 pages of format editing to do, plus finalizing the dedication and acknowledgments. After that, I just want to get one more pair of eyes on it, and slap on a cover, and it'll be good to go. Yay!

On top of that, I'm going to finish the last 2.25 chapters of Scars of Yesterday and then I can kick off my Transformers hiatus and hopefully, come back in several months newly reinvigorated to the fandom.

And as for the yearly goal I hope to tackle this month, I want to start looking at A Tale of Two Geeks and moving that toward finalizing. Adding new content, seeing what work needs to be done, et cetera. Getting some feedback on it would be great as well.

If I can swing it, I want to do another prompt weekend for my Discord server, though sadly I won't be able to take any Transformers prompts this time, so I know I won't have as many prompts to work through.

This all seems do-able for a shorter month so here's hoping! ^_^
dracoqueen22: (mytimeisjustbeginning)

Well, I survived November, though it was a pretty close call for a minute there. Between holidays, vacations, responsibilities, work, Real Life drama and troubles, trying to survive, much less complete 50k words was definitely a challenge. But.

I did it.

Now my NaNo novel isn't finished by any means, but I have a solid 50 works on it and the prequel it ended up deciding it needed, so I'm calling that a win. Now I can set it aside and work on some other things while I let my brain catch up. Mainly, all of the editing I need to do, all of the commission rounds I need to complete, and all of the new commissions I need to start.

Not to mention somehow trying to get back on the Scars of Yesterday bandwagon to see if I can prod it into submission. I also want to go back to Out of the Woods and tackle it for the final rounds of content editing, and then the final round of SPAG editing so I can say it's ready for publication and put it on that list.

December will be all about trying to figure out my goals for 2022 as well. I want to accomplish more than I managed to eke out in 2021 on a variety of fronts so I have to sit down and create reasonable goals with reasonable expectations. Should be a breeze.

Right? XD
dracoqueen22: (doctorisin)
Happy Spooky Month everyone!

This month is my favorite time of year, not just because of spoopy season, but also because the temperature starts to change toward comfy, and I can break out the sweaters and the hot drinks and the leaves start to fall and ahhh, it's just magic.

October is also "plan that NaNo novel month" and that is absolutely item number one on my to-do list for this month. Sure I'd like to work on other things, and I'll list those shortly, but definitely the primo thing is making sure I'm ready to hit the ground running on November 1st.

Other things I'd like to do?

1) Finish at least two chapters of Scars of Yesterday now that I got my outline all sorted out

2) Edit Sinclair and Juniper's First Meeting short story

3) Become more active in my Discord server (somehow)

Those are all reasonable goals, I think. Short sweet and to the point. Here's hoping I can actually accomplish them. Life is a thing of ups and downs here lately. Woof.

Hope everyone has an appropriately spooky season! ;)
dracoqueen22: (mytimeisjustbeginning)
Good afternoon!

Here we are, midway through 2021, and it's going much better than 2020, that's for sure. I'm busy all the time now! How well did I do on last month's goals?

Three out of five ain't bad, and I at least made progress on two of the goals I did not manage to mark complete. I'm feeling good about that!

So what's on tap for July?

1. Finish at least one chapter of Scars for Yesterday
2. Finish second draft and finalized draft of Fuss and Feathers
3. Add at least ten pages to Out of the Woods for the revision
4. Edit everything in my editing backlog
5. Fully catch-up my private wordpress websites with all new content.

I think that's even more doable. July should be a much quieter month than June at least. Maybe I can even finish these goals and more! Here's hoping! :crossed fingers:
dracoqueen22: (mytimeisjustbeginning)
 Jubilant June everyone!

How did May go for me? Well, I tackled four out of five goals and that ain't bad! I feel mightily accomplished. Let's see if I can go five for five with the month of June, eh?
  1. Finish the rough draft of my submission to the Monster Lovers anthology
  2. Finish my The Arcana oneshot where Nadia pegs Julian
  3. Finish at least one chapter of Scars of Yesterday
  4. Add at least five pages of new content to Out of the Woods
  5. Write at least one ficlet/oneshot in my Tethers universe
A slightly different type of to-do list for June, but more in line with where the muses have been as of late, so here's hoping I can snag a very successful month this time around.

June's pretty busy on the Real Life front, too, so if I can squeeze all of this out despite that, I'll be one happy writer. ^_^

dracoqueen22: (mytimeisjustbeginning)
Happy first of May! It kind of crept on me! Where even did April go?

Let's see. In terms of goals for April and what I accomplished, I hit three of my five goals, and that's not bad. April was a lot more complicated than I was ready for, so I lost a lot of time here and there, in between picking up projects I didn't expect to pick up, and having a vacation with my lady, and driving a LOT.

Hopefully, May sees a lot more success! :fingers crossed:

So. Goals for May.
  1.  Host another Flash Fic Weekend -- I'm anticipating this to be the 15th-17th.
  2. Finish the rough draft of the new additions to Out of the Woods
  3. Provide feedback on a friend's original novel
  4. Write one original short story up to, but no more than 5k
  5. If I don't end up working on Scars of Yesterday, figure out what WIP Fanfic that IS calling to my muses and tackle it.
May's goals are more doable, even more so than April. I hope.

*cracks knuckles*

dracoqueen22: (axelroxaslove)
Happy April 1st! This is not a Fools Day post, this is just the 1st of the month per usual post, where I talk about the kinds of things I want to accomplish this month as a way to bend my focus to my will. *fingers crossed*

I have five goals once again!

1st -- now that Despicable Me is on the way to being finished, according to the poll I ran on Twitter, my Harpyformers, Soundwave/Twins, Scars of Yesterday WIP should be completed next, which is fortunate because it's the fic I want to work on next. So the goal is to get it out of stalled territory and into progress territory. I'd like to finish it, but at the very least, I want to have a solid outline for the rest of the story and at least two chapters finished by the end of the month.

2nd-- I want to reread the first draft of my NaNo novel Half and Half, and draft up the first plan for what revisions need to be made, where worldbuilding is lax, and where all the work needs to be done

3rd -- I want to gain the courage to actually post a link to the Discord server I made for people to chat with me about my writing if they so want.

4th -- I would like to host another flash fic weekend. It is currently, tentatively scheduled for the 16th through the 18th. *fingers crossed*

5th -- I want to write at least a third of the new scenes I need to add to Out of the Woods.

April's goals, I think, are more reasonable and do-able, so I'd love to end April with a 100% success rate. Here's hoping!
dracoqueen22: (mytimeisjustbeginning)
Completely forgot to do this in February apparently. Ooooops. At least February was a productive month with all the commissions I finished, and knocking out the first draft of Half and Half, my lesbian vampire novel.

But here I am in March to make up for it! Still coming off the heels that was the wildness of 2020, I'm trying to make 2021 more productive. Goals for this month include::
  • Finalizing the edits of Out of the Woods and formatting it for self-publication
  • Completing the outline of the first arc of the Tethers series
  • Try and finish writing Despicable Me in the And Bridges Burned series
  • Host one Flash Fic Weekend
  • Build my Subscribe Star for Launch in April

Lots to do this month and -fingers crossed- I can do it all.

Cheers~

dracoqueen22: (axelroxaslove)
Or at least, that's how I feel this month is going to be. After September, after my vacation, I feel recharged and ready for action. October is another busy month and I've got a lot to do, but I feel very ready to tackle it.

Goals for the month are pretty straight-forward. I want to finish at least two chapters of my longform commission, the next and last part of the Crown the Empire series.

ClayLeb week is the first week of November, so I definitely want to write all seven of those prompts this month. Aiming for 1k-2k pieces, but we all know what happens when I aim to write something short. lol

October is also pre-NaNo so I need to sit down and plot/outline at least a basic idea of the novel I'm writing for NaNoWriMo. I know it's going to be a M/M romance. I know it's going to feature a romanesque gorgeous hobgoblin general and a feisty air genasi with a bit of a past. And I know it's going to be set in my dnd-adjacent/tethers world. I just need to work out some particulars.

Also on the agenda is to finish another oneshot in the pre-canon Tethers series, something that's more getting to the know the characters and slice of life bits.

I also intend to work on and finish another one of my Transformers WIPs. Not sure which one the muses are leaning toward just yet. Perhaps I'll finish Despicable Me, the last in the TFP Of Bridges Burned series, which started as purely Ratchet/Starscream until other things cropped up.

Downtime between writing will be full of tackling all of the editing in my second draft folder, as much of it as I can. I will also be working on making sure my fanfiction website is completely up to date, as well as making my original fiction website something I can finally start to share with people.

There's a lot going on this month, but I'm super-excited and looking forward to tackling it all!
dracoqueen22: (axelroxaslove)
Phew. I'm not sure where August went, but I feel like I blinked and I missed it. Got a lot accomplished however.

Wrote a massive word count on a current commission. Finished a handful of Critical Role fanfics. Finished a couple updates to Apple a Day, And wrote a half-dozen original fics, plus ample amounts of world-building.

I feel pretty darn accomplished.

September is going to be more of the same. Goals are to finish current commission by up to 2/3 of it, since it IS a longer commission, I can't hope to finish the whole thing before the muses cry for a break. lol. I also hope to finish Apple a Day finally, I know some people will be happy about that.

I also want to do more world-building on my Tethers universe, and add a few more oneshots to it. I love practicing my characters like this, and i'd forgotten how fun it is to write OCs. I missed it so much.

One by one, I'm tackling all my projects. It's such a good feeling to mark things down as complete. :)

Just July

Jul. 1st, 2019 05:29 pm
dracoqueen22: (axelroxaslove)
No adjective this time, just July, because boy is July going to be a hard month. Financially at least.

June was successful in many ways. I blew through the first draft of the original novella I plan on submitting, got at least one bit of feedback on it and am waiting for the second while I go through the editing round. Hopefully, I can get that polished up and submitted in time. *fingers crossed*

But I'm also having to close my Patreon. They are being selectively censoring of the content they allow. NSFW is fine, but certain fictional kinks are not, which they wouldn't even have noticed, if I hadn't warned my patrons like a good creator. My page was already marked 18+ only and all nsfw hidden behind a paywall, but they still have to think about the safety of the children who use their sight. *rolls eyes* Anyway, they wanted me to delete MOST of my content to continue to use their service, so fuck them and their censorship, I'm closing the whole thing.

I'm going to hate the loss of that income, but I can't censor myself just because Patreon and all those other companies are participating in this war. So I'm deleting my Patreon as of today.

It's also a hard month financially IRL. Losing a bonus from my IRL job through no fault of my own set me back, and it's been a hard struggle to keep my head above water. So July is a month of doing all the commissions I can, as well as selling toys, to try and boost my income as much as possible.

I've got six commissions left, so I'm definitely tackling as many of those during this month as I can. Started on one, plotting on another, plotting on a third. Maybe I can get half of them done and keep on trucking. I'm ready to start knuckling down and putting serious work into my original stories, but I gotta knock out these commissions first.

In free time, if I've got any, I'll probably be trying to work on either my Critical Role fic "Bloodlines" or finishing up Despicable Me as the last part of my Once Burned TFP series.

*fingers crossed*

As always, if you have any questions or curiosities, feel free to give me a poke!

Jolly June

If anyone knows where May went, could they tell me? Because I swear I blinked and I missed it. Thirty-one days and I have no clue where they all went. Sheesh.

It was a busy, busy month. I wrote a lot of original fiction in May, really felt the drive for it. And I tackled one of my lengthier commissions and started a shorter one. The plan is still to finish my commissions as soon as possible, that way I can take a breather and focus on personal projects. It's going to be a hit to my income, but I think my creative health needs that break.

I love Transformers, I honestly do. I still love the characters and the universe. I'm not IN love with it as much as I used to. Writing Transformers is like sliding into a comfy pair of shoes, but I'm ready to try out a few new pairs and see if I can work them in, challenge the muses a bit.

I definitely want to focus on original stories again, even if they never see anywhere further than my own computer. I'm excited to create new worlds and new characters and see if I can breathe life into them. I'm also working on a bit of a SEKRET project, and when it bears fruit, I'll be eager to see what everyone thinks. *fingers crossed*

So June is more of the same. Trying to catch up on books I haven't read, movies I haven't seen, games I haven't played, this huge stack of comics and manga... Tackling my commission queue one by one by one. Working on WIPs to try and knock those out one by one by one. Taking creative breaks to knock out an original oneshot or two.

I did revise my Patreon starting for June. On the advice of others, I eliminated the $1 tier and created a single $2 tier. I started the Patreon only prompt polls again, though for now, I'm the one who'll be making the suggestions for patrons to vote on. As time goes by, and I clear up some free time, I'll adjust that again. I think I was too ambitious with my first foray into Patreon, and I had to dial it back into something more manageable. As I finish WIPs and clear out my commission queue, I should have more free time to focus on Patreon. Again *fingers crossed*

Anyway. That's June. Let's see if it speeds by as quickly as May, eh?

As always, if you have any questions about WIPs or projects, feel free to drop me a line. Happy June!
dracoqueen22: (mytimeisjustbeginning)
April was definitely an interesting month. A transitory month where things went up and down but the month ended up staying the same as it ended. Words got written, but nothing finished. Movies got watched, but I added more to the list. Weight was maintained but not reduced. Very average month, was April.

Hopefully May will be better.

Still working on commissions. Still working on personal projects. Focusing on Despicable Me for May in terms of fanfic, and on my dnd Adjacent original fic series as well. Maybe if I feel a little confident at some point, I'll share them publicly, but for now, only patrons can read them.

Still trucking. 2019 is definitely a year of staying steady and hopefully making progress. -fingers crossed- I manage it.

As always, if you have any questions about ongoing projects, feel free to shoot me a line, I'll be happy to answer them. :)
dracoqueen22: (axelroxaslove)
March was a good, good month. Knocked two commissions out. Made significant progress on Arc 1 of Uncharted Territory. Watched like six of the movies I needed to watch. Made some decisions regarding my Patreon that have made me a significantly happier creator. So March was a very satisfactory month.

Here's hoping April follows the same path.

I hope to knock out two commissions at the least. I want to finish arc 1 of Uncharted Territory entirely, plus one other fanfic on the list. Not sure which one yet. I also want to work on some original fics, I'm thinking my d&d adjacent series. Or perhaps the new story featuring the four horsemen of the apocalypse. except they're queer. which is the best. Got lots of options at least.

So that's April. Fingers crossed it goes as well as March.

As always, questions about projects: past, present, and future -- are welcome. Happy April!
dracoqueen22: (axelroxaslove)
February was a pretty successful month in a lot of ways. I'm very happy with what I managed to get accomplished. Fics were finished. Decisions were made. Forward motion was obtained for RL issues. It was a good month.

And I start March with some changes.

Patreon was an experiment, I think, and I'm not going to say it was a failure, because I definitely learned a lot of things, and one thing I learned is that it requires a heck of a lot more time than I have available. It's starting to get stressful to maintain and until I get some more RL stress handled, I think it's best if I devote less time to Patreon, so I'll be dropping that to a single tier, and honestly, it feels good. Feels like a heavy stress falling off my shoulder. Phew.

Maybe someday I can pick it back up. But right now, I really want to focus on original fiction and Critical Role and other fandoms, and I know that's not something people want to pay for, which is quite alright and fair. But for the sake of my personal energy and creative acumen, I've learned I need to take a step back, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. :)

March is full of Getting Stuff Done. Plans are to mark off at least two commissions from the list and hopefully, finish Uncharted Territory part one. I want to work on some original fic too and finish at least one CritRole fanfic.

So. Yeah. *fingers crossed* March is a mad month of change. :D
