dracoqueen22In honor of SuperBat month, today I present to you a few fic recs that I've found most appealing. I'm currently re-reading all of the fics I've found, so I'll post as I read. Here are the first four of many! (Links, for now, will go to the World's Finest archive).
That Which We Call a Rose by arysteia
Summary: The course of true love never did run smooth. When Clark Kent met Bruce Wayne. And Bruce Wayne met Superman. And Superman met Batman. And Batman met Clark Kent. And Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne finally got their acts together...
Rating: Adult, M, nice and porny basically
--I loved the idea behind this one. The different facets of their personalities meeting at different times over their combined history, all culminating into an inevitable relationship. Very lovely. Also, easy to read if you're not familiar with any of the universes.
Heart and Bones by ladybugkay
Summary: Bruce and Clark agree to use each other for casual sex, but strings have a way of attaching themselves to the most casual of arrangements, and the boys just might end up giving each other more than they intended.
Rating: Adult, M, porn is present
--I love Clark's voice in this particular fic. It's both hilarious and dramatic at the same time. I love the way the relationship develops and again it's another story that doesn't require an intimate knowledge of the various universes.
Protect Me (from What I Want) by MostlyHarmless
Summary: Bruce doesn't draw the curtains, and Clark only allows himself to watch.
Rating: Adult, M, het porn, ANGST
-- Did I ever mention how much I love angst? 'Cause I do. I also have a weakness for relationships that don't work out. The opposite of romance, you could say. This is also one of the few 1st person POV fics I can read. The dichotomy of emotion in this is heart-breaking. Pretty open universe-wise, though it might help to know who Nightwing is.
First Time for Everything by evangeline
Summary : Months after returning to Earth, Superman decides it's time to meet Gotham's new protector. Bruce reluctantly accepts that the two men may have more in common than he thought. In short, two loners find comfort in each other...just in time for the holidays.
Rating: Adult. porn.
--A little holiday themed with a lot of great Bat-snark. It's also a first time meeting fic. Superman can be impossibly adorable sometimes. Oh, and it references Superman Returns so one might want to be just a little familiar with that movie. (If it was based on a comic book I wouldn't know, I don't know as much about Supes as I do Bats).
