Astounding April
Apr. 1st, 2018 09:12 am March was pretty productive, if I do say so myself. I finished the last of my commissions, so all that's left is to edit and post them. I finished the first draft of Topsy-Turvy, so all that's left is to final edit and post. I decided that the Wild Card slot in my yearly goals would be to finish the All This and Heaven, Too Transformers Escort AU, and I sketched out how that's going to happen. And by finish I mean, complete the main storyline. I'll still be adding oneshots and drabbles, etcetera, to fill in the blanks as time goes by. I also finished reading my original book for the month -- Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett.
So March was good.
What's on the list for April? Well, my book of the month is "From the Corner of his Eye," by Dean Koontz. I read it a long, long time ago, and I remember loving it. Now I"m rereading it like it's new, trying to identify why I enjoyed it and if I still do, and taking notes, as it were. If I want to try my hand at original fiction again, I'm going to need a lot of research.
Fanfic wise, I'm working on two projects at once, so I have something to bounce between. Right now, I'm focused on finishing Past Impending, one of the final pieces of Escort AU, and the Drift/Perceptor origin story for the Flights of Fancy AU. Once I finish those, I'll see what the muses are interested in before I pick the next project.
I'm still contemplating a Patreon. My goal for April is to actually go to the site, look around, read their FAQ, get a feel for how it works and the kinds of things that are provided, et cetera. Then I can start making plans for my own. Coming in May, I plan to open commissions again, just like I did in September last year. Where I'll open the queue for two weeks, and then close the queue, and work on the queue as quick as I can, rather than open limited slots. The only limited slots will be in Long Fic (aka anything over 80K). I'm also going to be adjusting my prices.
So yeah. That's April. Moving steadily forward. Making progress. Making plans. I'm trying to set myself smaller, more accomplishable goals so I don't feel buried in everything I haven't managed to do yet. Trying not to let the weight of the years gone past dragged me down. Only thing I can do is keep pushing forward. So I'm going to try.
