SuperBat Recs (II)
Sep. 21st, 2011 08:22 pmHello friends! Sorry for the radio silence as of late. RL has been overflowing with busyness. Today I bring more Superman/Batman fic recs. Happy reading!
These Small Hours by Skund
Summary: A routine mission for Batman and Superman takes an unexpected turn.
Rating: All Audiences
--This is one of the first I read by Skund and what hooked me into the rest of this author's fiction. It's also the first fic I read that explored the red sun and Superman concept. It's not so much focused on the SuperBat pairing as it is the two characters of Super Boy and Robin but I very much enjoyed it nonetheless. To tell you anything more would spoil the story! Some knowledge of Tim Drake and Kon-El might be beneficial, but I understood it without that prior knowledge (Thank goodness for google)
Best Served Cold by theclexfactor
Summary: If Bruce really wanted to give up, he wouldn’t have woken from his four-year coma.
Rating: ADULT
--Part Kill Bill. Part Smallville. Part comic-verse. This fic is a hodgepodge of universes and movies and is very, very AU. With that said, it's also very, very amazing. I particularly liked the Kill Bill influence. Because it's such a mix of continuities, you don't need to know much background information so it's a good fic to read for beginners. It's deliciously smexy, bloody, and features a whole lotta backstabbing, and drama and all the things that make my toes tingle.
On the Half Shell by Romany
Summary: Lois breaks it off with Clark. Bruce makes his move. It's pure disaster.
Rating: ADULT
--Another by a great author, this made me LOL and it made my heart hurt, all at once. You really feel Clark's pain and confusion. And then when you find out the reasons for Bruce's inappropriate behavior, you just want to shake your head at him. Really? But it's also SO Bruce that you believe it. But the main reason I like this fic? Alfred. I've always adored Alfred and this writer has him spot-on in this particular short fic. He just has some of the best lines and reactions. Good fic for beginners; it doesn't have a lot of contextual references that'd confuse you.
Mind Over Matter by peroxidepest17
Summary: Batman is always right.
Rating: M
--For a change of pace, this one is located on The Pit, but it's by one of my absolute favorite writers, so we forgive her. It uses the sex pollen trope for starters, and that's where things get steamy. I love how she describes Batman's sheer willpower. He will not succumb to anything: fatigue, heat, leg cramps, hunger, sweat, sexy Superman in need of sexing... except for the last one. ^_^ (Shall I also mention the dubcon, because that's pretty much a given when sex pollen's involved) I love Bat-snark and there's plenty to go around in this fic. The author proclaims little knowledge of canon/continuities so this is a safe read for beginners.
a/n: Hopefully, more fic recs are to come. Also, more The Beautiful Lie tomorrow. Huzzah!
