Today I bring you a fanfiction, one of that is completed and I must say, one of the ones that I am most proud of. The characterization, the plot, everything about it.

The story is called Of Violence, and it's a Bleach fanfiction featuring the main pairings if Ichigo/Rukia (to start) and Ichigo/Byakuya (an unexpected end). There are other side pairings, most notably: JyuushirouxIzuru, IkkakuxIsane, RenjixOrihime, HitsugayaxKarin, HanatarouxYuzu and IshidaxTatsuki.

The premise is forty years or so in the future after the end of the war. Ichigo and Rukia are married and have four kids together, Kaien, Syaoran and the twins, Mikan and Ryuunosuke who are just infants. Tensions have been strained for a long time between the two, and the readers learns why in the first chapter. Rukia has been physically abusing Ichigo. Now, before you start passing judgment, I'd like to say that I like Rukia as a character. But the concept of spousal abuse from a woman rather than a man intrigued me. And you have to admit, taken out of contest, Rukia abuses the shit out of Ichigo in the show. If we didn't consider all those smacks and punches as comical, they would be abuse. I used that as a basis. But I honestly wrote it with the intention of making the reader understand both sides of the argument.

Frustration pushes Rukia to the edge. And what was once comical, starting out small, becomes an actual problem. Why does Ichigo allow it? He's strong. He could easily stop her! As I said, it started out small, with those familiar punches and smacks that everyone knows. He can't bring himself to hurt the person he loves. And what man wants to admit that his wife his abusing him? Even by the end of the fic, Ichigo is still unwilling to call it abuse, even as other people recognize it as such.

Entwined in their complicated romance is Byakuya, who has become integral to the Kurosaki family. He has become best friends with Ichigo, and like a second mother to their children. Rukia tries desperately to prove herself as a vice-captain, and because of that, rarely comes home. Caring for the children is left to Ichigo and in turn, Byakuya. They've drawn together without recognizing what they are doing, and as many in Soul Society have come to realize, Ichigo is in love with both Rukia and Byakuya, though he is only aware of the former.

The story is by no means simple. The relationships are very complex, interwoven and intermingled. Love is tested and strained, as we watch Ichigo and Rukia's relationship falter and crack even as Ichigo and Byakuya's seem to grow.

When the truth of the situation emerges to Soul Society, the plot explodes. Sides are taken and we witness the final crack in an already broken relationship.

I love this fanfiction because I put so much effort into it. Research and everything. The response to it was mixed, of course, with many calling me a hypocrite and flaming me for my depiction for Rukia. I perserved however, and I'm sure this is my best fanfiction to date. I plan to someday use my experience to turn it into an original fiction.

There are so many underlying emotions in the fic that it just blew me away. Ichigo's emotions, their ups and downs, the effect it had on the children. As one reviewer commented, "it was practically a guidebook to how to handle life when shit happens / how to handle a falling apart marriage with as little damage to all involved as possible." There were more affected by their failed relationship than just the immediate family, and I enjoyed writing it.

I'm sure there is more that could be said. But I'll leave you with something relatively short to read, rather than a lengthy piece.
