dracoqueen22So. Back at the beginning of the month I said, "anyone interested in beta'ing an IDW Sunstreaker-centric fic?" with the expectation that it would be short. Probably barely skate the requirements of the challenge.
Um. Yeah. So muses and life don't work that way. 15K words later (that's about 45 pages), I only have one scene left to complete and then a final read through before I hopefully send it off to some kind soul whose willing to shred it to pieces in the name of readability and grammar. :)
It's massive. And in it's current state, probably only half the story I want to tell. It's full of spoilers for IDW, but most specifically, it follows MTMTE for the entire five volumes until just before Dark Cybertron begins, with a few references to Dark Cybertron in the form of events referenced in Dark Cybertron that actually occur in MTMTE. (Those familiar with Dark Cybertron and the number 89/101 will know exactly what I'm talking about).
It's wholly Sunstreaker-centric, a sort of behind the scenes look through the optics of an unreliable narrator, and when I say unreliable narrator, I mean that Sunny's opinion of what happens doesn't necessarily match my own. I'm also kind of a bit nervous about it because IDW seems to be one of those continuities with some very awesome writers who have a lot more knowledge about the backstory than I do, since all I have is RiD, MTMTE and All Hail Megatron (and now Dark Cybertron).
It's not shippy, though some might see evidence of potential pairings if they squint. There's canon-typical violence. A lot of cursing (this is Sunstreaker after all) and a helluva lot of spoilers. All over da place. I'm hoping someone with some knowledge of Sunstreaker's backstory would volunteer to look at it, just in case I get some detail wrong because I'm trying to make it as canon-accurate as possible.
It features Ratchet and Rodimus pretty strongly too with a few other characters having some chances to shine, including characters I've never written before so yay for challenges! Anyway. If anyone wants to be tossed a long fic to look over in about a week, let me know. I'd be grateful.
And don't forget about flash fiction Friday. It hits us this Friday, the 18th~. :)
