Visual Entertainment
Jul. 10th, 2010 10:39 pmSo today I thought I'd bring you a little bit in the form of visual entertainment aka AMVs (and for the non-internet minded those are anime music videos -- videos made with anime clips to music).
Now, because YouTube is a douche, I don't have them uploaded on youtube except for a few that have managed to somehow evade their removal attempts. And they aren't even on my account (which was suspended) but on my best friend's. (You can ask her if you don't believe me, I promise they are mine. lol).
So! Some of the links are to YouTube (as in three of them, lol) and some of the links are to my homepage where I uploaded them as flashvideo. Which means the quality leaves a little to be desired and the music has a sort of muffled edge to it, but it's still perfectly audible and viewable so I think you can enjoy them nonetheless. Though, if there's anyone out there that is more technologically minded then I and can tell me how and where to upload them in a better manner, feel free to suggest.
Over the past four years, I've created 42 AMVs. Now, I'm not going to share all of them today because frankly, some of them aren't very good. In fact, some of them are pretty awful. But even excluding those, there are still too many. So I'll only share seven with you today and bring you some of the others later.
So! Let me begin with a warning. All of the featured AMVs are going to have spoilers for their relative anime. There's no escaping that. If you'd rather not be spoiled then I wouldn't suggest watching them. Thank you!
First, I bring you "Already Gone". A Byakuya/Renji AMV from the anime "Bleach" to the song "Already Gone," by Crossfade. Unfortunately, the subtitles lingered in this AMV because -- at the time -- I hadn't learned the value in seeking out RAW episodes to use for my footage. Overall, it's a decent AMV but if I had the time, I'd go back and re-do a few ill-timed scenes and the rather blah ending.
This can be found on my homesite here (it'll open in the same window and automatically start playing): "Already Gone."
Second is "Obsession." Another Bleach AMV to the tune "Number One Crush" by Garbage and focuses on Kira Izuru and Momo Hinamori. It's a rather eerie vid and had I time, I'd go back and fix some of the pacing. And of course, re-do it without the bloody subtitles which make for a very busy image.
"Obsession" is also only available on my homesite.
Thirdly is "Hero." This is an Advent Children AMV (to the tune "Hero" by Chad Kroeger) and strangely, the third AMV I ever made. I still think it's one of the better ones though again, it's riddled with subtitles. Alas. I would edit it for a few glitchy spots but otherwise, I think it's fine as is.
"Hero" is only available on my homesite.
Fourth up is "What Hurts the Most," an Hatori/Kana Fruits Basket AMV to the tune of the same name by Rascal Flatts. It's one of the more heart-breaking AMVs I've created and unfortunately, clogged with subtitles. But I'm particularly proud of several instances of timing in here.
"What Hurts the Most," is only available on my homesite.
Fifth in line is "What Lies Between," a Roy/Ed Fullmetal Alchemist AMV that features both the first anime and the movie, and is to the song "Between" by Vienna Teng. I'd love to go back and fix some of the timing issues and scene choices for this particular amv, but some of the others are quite good.
"What Lies Between" is only available on my homesite.
Sixth is "The Things He Can't Remember," A Kanatarou/Haruka Tactics AMV to the song "Broken" by Seether featuring Amy Lee. A few of the scenes have subtitles because I couldn't get ahold of the RAWs but I tried to clip them out whenever possible. I really, really like this AMV though there are a few timing errors that refused to smooth out and I'd gotten really annoyed with WMM at that point, so I called it finished. It's also one of the few that are available on YouTube. So I embedded it here.
And lastly, I bring to you what I think is my absolute best Bleach amv. Called "Manten Sekai" or "Perfect World" it's a focus on Hisagi Shuuhei, Hinamori Momo, and Kira Izuru in relation to their respective, traitorous captains. Out of everything I've done, it has the best scene choices, the best timing, and even better, no subtitles except for one scene where I couldn't find that episode as a RAW. Unfortunately, it was also one of the ones removed on youtube so I have only this link to offer you.
"Manten Sekai" is available on my homesite.
So... did anyone enjoy this little posting? If so, I will sure to bring another one. I suspect perhaps even two more if I want to include all of the ones I feel are worth the time watching.
