I really need an Inuyasha icon... oh well.

In any case, I bring another fanfiction this time, my own and only entrant into the Inuyasha fandom. My favorite character has always been Sesshoumaru, but in my usual fashion, I wanted to turn things on their heads. So I wanted a Sesshoumaru!uke piece, not only that, I wanted to see him with Miroku, because I fell in love with that pairing. That and InuKouga or SessKouga. I still want to write a SessKouga someday. Eventually. When I get around to it.

Confessions of a Western Lord is a five-part ficlet series told from first-person POV  and entirely from Sesshoumaru's except for the last scene of the last chapter, which is told from Inuyasha's POV. It describes the twisted and possessive affair with Miroku that leads to startling and bloody conclusions.

Through Sesshoumaru's voice you learn that he cannot understand himself for falling deeply into Miroku, a mere human, and not only sating his lust with the human, but allowing the human dominance over him. I don't go into detail as to how their relationship came about, letting the readers draw their own conclusions. Sesshoumaru also discusses his relationship with his brother, his thoughts on his father and his swords, as well as his opinion of Rin and Jaken.

It was originally meant to be a oneshot, but so many people encouraged me to continue that I added on four more chapters. And not even I knew the ending as I wrote it. I hadn't intended for the series to become a death-fic, but in the end, that was what happened. Jealousy invokes Sesshoumaru to kill Sango, whom he deems an obstacle to owning Miroku, and furious with the murder, Miroku ends their relationship. Time passes until Sesshoumaru finds Miroku again, the monk perilously close to being swallowed by the Kazaana. He pulls Sesshoumaru in for a kiss, and lets the Kazaana consume them both. Of course, the emotions are much more complicated than this brief review can accurately describe. The final scene from Inuyasha's standpoint is after Naraku's defeat, when he's standing over their graves and calling both of them fools.

It was one of my first fanfiction, and admittedly, it has some flaws, but I enjoy it for its uniqueness. I'm not in the Inuyasha fandom much anymore, but I do occasionally like to go back and re-read it. Some of my favorite quotes come from this story:

"Once married to my pride, I am now only passing acquaintances with it." Sesshoumaru speaks this, and it describes him all too well. I'm pretty proud of this line. Since then, I've only written one other deathfic... or perhaps two. But those are stories for another time.
