Nineteenth Day, Seventh Count
Aug. 22nd, 2010 08:59 pmDespite numerous setbacks, Whispers of Yesterday has been smoothly moving right along. I actually had a wonderful plot explosion the other day of ideas for the last bit of this fic. So now I'm up and eager to write. I also just finished chapters 12 and 13, both of which contain steamy smut scenes. Who knew het sex could be so hot? I surely didn't.
In any way, the word count as of today is >> 63,432 words.
Yowza. I chugged out a chapter last night, this morning, and half of one today. I won't be able to write again until Wednesday thanks to work, but hopefully by then, I can chug out three more chapters and tie this puppy up with a bright red ribbon.
So today, in honor of passing 60K I bring you a glossary of some important terms in the Infinity's End universe. There are a LOT of unfamiliar words in this series and some of them aren't explained properly (my fault entirely).
Hopefully, this can clear some things up. Yes?
Talemar: the name of the area/land where the story takes place. It is a huge expanse of forest, ringed on the borders by mountains and cliffs and the ocean on the farthes southern side.
Meropis: the entire city where Ione grew up, the largest city in all of Talemar and the only one to have an organized government and structure.
Grayshire: part of Meropis sectioned off, where the nobles and the government stay, the "rich people" quarter
Moriarty: aka the slums, the second half of Meropis containing the commoners and several commoner businesses.
the Brigade: the military organization of Meropis, controlled by Grayshire and headed by the High Commander, who at this moment is Asher Celestine
the Skyla: the scholastic organization of Meropis, controlled by Grayshire and headed by the Vasuda, one of the noble clans of Grayshire, in charge of documentation and the central library
the Jeode: the scientific organization of Meropis. controlled by the Azura clan of Grayshire, currently headed by Marduk, Kieran's father.
the Vidya: the healers of Meropis, headed by the Arlen clan of Grayshire, currently headed by Gale's aunt and Neorah Hadley
Kaiyu: the god of vegetation, trees mostly
Diana: the goddess of the animals, their patron
Tyr: the god of war, considered the patron of all soldiers, and members of the Brigade
...
Any other terms that I haven't identified yet? Feel free to mention and I'll work them into my next word count update. Promise!
Here's to hoping that I manage to end this by August 31st!
