I've moved right into chapter four of The Seeker which is gradually being completed at a happy clip. I suspect this time next week to be on chapter six, provided I run into no distractions that prevent me from writing. Work's been a bitch lately, so I'm surprised to have gotten as much done as I have.

Despite the additions of my characters from War of the Animum, one of whom you might not recognize because his name is different (aka Frost is called Frayr here because that's the identity he uses while in Lesoth. Poor Sleet only knows him as Frost and no one knows his true name, though all derivatives of the same, meaning in some way "frost, ice, snow, etc"), I'm happy with the plot, but I do worry that it lacks originality and purpose. It is your basic hunt-and-fetch story, true, but I am attempting to spice it up by adding in the true plot, which is the Seeker's struggle to keep ahold of her new life, while using skills from her old one. For example, not falling into the habit of smoking again. Or killing without a second thought. When we find out the truth of her identity in the end, you know why. She had decided she no longer wanted to smell of war so she cast aside her armaments, her skills, her bloodlust. But it remained there, seething beneath the surface, and here in the story, it keeps trying to make an appearance.

Frost even asks her if she truly thinks it will be possible to abandon her old life again, after having to resort to it out of desperation. And she claims she can, but even in the end, she has to ask it of herself. I think I like this, so I'm hoping I can pull it off effectively. The story drags a little, being mostly conversation in the first half of the story, but in the latter half she starts slashing shit (and people) down to get to her precious items.

More news to come.
