Not only did I get the news that I'll be starting my new job on Monday (huzzah!), but I found out a bunch of other good things.
Like I've received two new ratings on The Requiem of Janus on Goodreads.com that boost me from having an average of 3.25 stars to having an average of 4 stars! Two new readers rated my fic as 5 stars! Which is really encouraging to me since I've had such few reviews of this work. I've only had one person review The Requiem of Janus when so many of my fellow authors get at least two or three. I figure it's a product of my being a new face in the industry. Hopefully, the future will bring more recognition.
Also, out of 10 ratings on fictionwise.com, The Requiem of Janus has far more in the Great category than any other rating. (Great is the highest one can rate a story). That's also fantastic!
My short story Monster is not doing so well, unfortunately. But I'm trying! So far it has only one rating on Fictionwise, which rated it a Good. ((By the way, Monster is now available on Amazon.com for those of you wishing to buy it in an easier format -- http://www.amazon.com/Monster-ebook/dp/B00403N98I/ref=sr_1_5?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1299204157&sr=1-5). I've sent it to one reviewer of short fantasy fiction, but haven't heard a response, which means I either wound up in Spam folder, or they don't want it. lol. I'm going to send them another e-mail and check.
And then, during my weekly habit of googling myself (mostly in an attempt to make sure either The Requiem of Janus or Monster aren't appearing in pirate sites), I found an interesting site that lists top stories, authors, etc, in Bleach. I was thrilled to find that I'm in the top then of five categories: Top Bleach authors by number of favorites, by number of reviews, by total chapters written, by total words written, and by reviews. (I was also not surprised to find several other authors that I completely adore like peroxidepest17 and Moczo who writes the ever-hilarious "Uninvited Guests")
*tears* You guys like me! You really don't know how much that boosts my pitiful self-esteem. This was just statistics for fanfiction.net, which is better known as The Pit around here, but it's still a boost to the ego. Considering that when I started writing over five years ago, no one wanted to read my stuff. Admittedly, it was terrible. *shudders*
So for a day that started out immensely craptacular, it has turned into a lovely day after all. I guess I better look over my shoulder for the BAD NEWS that's going to balance it out. *laughs*
