Character Highlight: Janus

In an ongoing effort to keep things interesting, I thought I might spotlight some of my original characters. Tell ya some things about them that you didn't know before, and remind you of the things revealed in canon. Also, give my readers an opportunity to ask any questions they might have, especially about things I didn't explain.
Today, I decided to feature Janus, who is the main character in my published fic The Requiem of Janus.
Let's start with what we know. At the start of the novel, Janus is an eighteen-year old high priest who works under the Lady Sybaris, a goddess of water and weather. Originally, I planned for Janus to be seventeen, but since that would be under the legal age, I didn't risk it. So I upped his age by a year. By the end of the fic, he's had a birthday, so he's nineteen.
Janus has long black hair and bright blue eyes. He grows a bit during the course of the novel, from a small 5'6 to a taller 5'11, though that still puts him inches lower than Alcaeus. Since he's a priest that uses a lot of magic, his energy is stolen by the magic. He's thin, not by choice, but because the magic takes everything else. He's been a priest since he was ten years old.
Janus, born in Rozlin, is also an orphan. It's uncertain what happened to his original parents, but most likely, his father died and his mother abandoned him at the orphanage. From a young age, Janus has been able to access his magic and it was something his fellows at the orphanage feared him for. Even at only five years old, Janus was well aware of the way he was feared. The age of five was also when he was adopted by Lord Alfred Deham and his wife -- who, at first, only adopted Janus because of a prophecy.
A bit about Janus himself.
He has an appreciation for the finer things, probably because his adoptive family is very well-off and he's an only child who has been very well educated and well treated. His favorite drink is tea -- black or green -- mildly sweetened with honey. He could drink gallons of it. He also loves anything with a citrus twist to it: lemons, limes, oranges, tangerines, etc. He's addicted to them, especially fresh. He also likes the taste of fresh bread and croissants smeared with butter and honey.
Janus also loves to read and he has a passion for history, something that he hasn't had a chance to show readers yet. Perhaps in the sequel?
Also, this was excised from the published version, but Janus is actually bisexual. He's slept with women several times, and in the original version, Janus had been with Frejya. I was encouraged to change it for Torquere's version and I agreed with my editor's suggestion. I like how it turned out in the published version, but I did lose that small detail about Janus. Also, he's normally a top. With any other man, he's always kept a position of dominance, something he thought necessary because of his position. Only with Alcaeus does he allow himself to want other things.
Hmm. I feel like I'm forgetting something. Oh well, if I remember it, I'll edit it in later.
