A Thousand Words is a series of original oneshots that I have compiled under one heading. Some of them are inter-related. Others are entirely separate. Some of them are fanfiction from other original fics of mine. I don't know when A Thousand Words will end. Whenever I run out of ideas, I suppose? lol

Summary wise, A Thousand Words is a provocative and honest series of short stories, based in part on true relationships and stories, that show love in all forms : The pain of wanting something you know you shouldn't . The man who always waits for the one who doesn't realize what he's looking for. The carefully hidden relationship falling apart at the edges. All these and more. They could, at any point, contain het, slash, threesomes, or moresomes. They also range in rating from SFW to NSFW.

Because each story is unique, I'd like to focus on them one at a time. Today, I'm focusing on Over and Over, the first snapshot within A Thousand Words and the first story in Wesley and Alex's tale. It is followed by snapshot six (Moving On) and snapshot nine (Whatever It Takes), the latter of which hasn't been released (or written) yet.

Wesley and Alex's story is actually based on two men I know in real life. They are not actually lovers, but best friends, and their situation is similar, but only vaguely. I expanded upon it greatly, changing their names, occupations, back stories, and descriptions. In fact, nothing is based on reality, but a huge "what if" situation that a friend of mine and I tossed back and forth like a couple of fangirls.

Over and Over is written from Wesley's point of view. Wesley thinks it is ironic that the one person he wants to hold onto, is the one person who keeps slipping from his bed. Which really is the summation of the relationship between Wesley and Alex. They aren't committed lovers, but they have been friends for a long time. Wesley is more stable, always there for Alex, and Alex has never hesitated to accept Wesley's help. I would say that both men are straight, only having feelings for the same sex when it comes to the other. Alex has already been through one marriage and divorce, and has flings with women on a regular basis. Wesley attempts to have real relationships with women, but every time Alex comes back into his life, to Wesley, there is no one else.

The two of them are stuck in a limbo like place. Alex keeps leaving. Wesley keeps waiting. And like that, months and years pass where neither of them speak about what they truly want.

Over and Over gives us a brief introduction to the two men. We see Wesley, who obviously loves Alex, but hates that he can't seem to get Alex to stay. We see Alex, who seems to be taking advantage of Wesley. Of course, it's not until snapshot 6 that we get a glimpse of Alex's true feelings. That, however, is a different review.

This fic could also be considered a songfic, I suppose, as I was listening to "Over and Over," by Three Days Grace on constant repeat when I wrote this.

There's something about the rhythm of this particular piece that I'm proud of. I keep trying to replicate it in the sequels, but I can't seem to grasp it again. Still, I like how it turned out, and I'm glad that it ended up spawning several related pieces.

If you'd like to check out this piece, feel free to visit it at the Den of Debauchery here. I'll also start posting it to the livejournal if readers would prefer that
