Time for another character highlight! Per a reader's request, I decided to focus on Malcolm Wyndham today, a major-minor character from my series Infinity's End. I say major-minor because he's not one of the main players, but he's important to the storyline. So I suppose you'd call him a secondary character? *laughs*

Anyway, we first meet Malcolm in The Edge of Tomorrow. We'll continue to see him in Whispers of Yesterday and Nycthemeron. Malcolm is Ione's best friend and occasional lover -- occasional in the sense that they scratch each other's itches, respect each other, and even hold affection, but it's not a romantic love and they are not dating.

Malcolm is the first-born son of Theron Wyndham (who is the son of Vance Wyndham, the head of the Brigade and the third most powerful man in all of Meropis and Grayshire), thereby making him a high noble. He has two younger sisters and he dotes on them like any proper elder brother would. He attended the Conservatory with Ione, graduated in the same class and even joined the Brigade with her. Like all Wyndham's, Malcolm is talented in magic, but he prefers physical attacks. Irvine, a member of his quintile, jokingly calls him the "walking armory" because he likes to be as skilled in as many different weapons as possible.

Malcolm has dark eyes and dark brown hair, often mistaken for black in the odd lighting. He also keeps his hair trimly cut, military style, and he works out to keep in shape. To me, he looks a heck of a lot like Sam Worthington, especially the way he looked in Clash of the Titans. *grins* Though it was a suck-tastic movie, there was plenty of pretty to go around. Malcolm is 5'10, ambidextrous, and uses Earth-based magic when he does magic.

He's a friendly, easygoing personality that doesn't often get angry. He's fiercely protective and loyal, especially to someone he cares about, even when the situation requires more of an open mind. Unlike other nobles of comparable status, Malcolm does not hold the same sort of bias. He befriends Ione, despite her commoner origins, and their relationship itself is unique. Casual sex is not that common in this world.

He was born on November 9th. By the way, for all of the characters in Infinity's End, the birthday's were chosen for a reason. They weren't just arbitrarily chosen for once. I used things like numerology and astrology. So based on what I knew of Malcolm's characterization, I chose his birthday so that it matched with the traits assigned to that particular astrology month, and used numerology for that particular date as well. In the same manner, I chose everyone's blood type. Malcolm is B positive.

Malcolm likes beer, weapons, and military strategy. He's a surprisingly good tactician. Also, he enjoys music and is a decent dancer, though you'll have to get him nice and sloshed to see him in action.

Other random nonsense: Of all things, Malcolm can't swim. To be fair, he's not had much opportunity to learn since Meropis and Grayshire are surrounded by forest and beyond that, high cliffs. There are rivers, and waterfalls, and a faraway lake, but Malcolm's a noble, therefore he never had much reason to wander around the forest. Also, he doesn't like squirrels. Though it would be better to say he's afraid of them. Of all things. *laughs*

Malcolm also dislikes spicy food, rain, cats and as of late, he really, really dislikes the Varos Flats. Though you'll have to read The Edge of Tomorrow to find out why.

If you have a specific character you are interested in seeing highlighted, feel free to mention it! I'm always looking to feature the characters my readers want to see most!
