2010s in Retrospect

It's been a wild and crazy year, but it's absolutely been a wild and crazy decade. If all I looked back on was the past year, I wouldn't think I'd gotten very far, but looking at the past decade, there's just a ton of accomplishment I have under my belt.
I got back into original fic writing, and I'm actually excited about it and looking forward to seeing what the future brings on that front. Standalone novels. Visual novels. Comics. Graphic Novels. So many options, so many opportunities, I'm so excited.
I've written millions of words of fanfic over the decade and dipped my toes in so many new fandoms, somewhere I decided to stay (like Critical Role) and some where it was only a brief visit (like Chuck and JL: Gods and Monsters) but all of them a raring good time. I spent almost the whole decade fully invested in Transformers, and while I'm not as gung-ho about it as I used to be, I still adore the series and the characters.
I participated in several fanzines, both by invitation and by application, and each one was a unique and educational experience which will serve me greatly in the future. Not to mention there's a special joy in pulling those fanzines off the shelf and seeing my work within them. Fanzines have such passion in them. I'm grateful for the opportunity to work on those, whether as a contributor or staff or both.
The past decade also saw me taking the plunge into fanfiction commissions, which has gone very well, and also opening editing and feedback services. It's also when I attempted to open a Patreon, which went very well, until they decided how they were going to manage my own content, I disagreed, and dumped my Patreon account. I'm still looking into options for alternatives. But this decade also found me finally opening a Ko-Fi which has been wonderful, and I'm exceedingly grateful to anyone who wishes to support me through it.

*my first NFL game (Seahawks v Panthers 2018)
*my first hockey game
*my first cruise, Jan 2019
*my first time at the top of a lighthouse, Jan 2019
*my first fulltime job with benefits, started 2017
*paid off my first car
Other accomplishments include finally seeing a doctor and a therapist and getting properly medicated to deal with my anxiety and depression. I've also learned coping mechanisms, and it's just really nice to be able to talk to someone about the things which bother me, and learn how to solve issues I might be having.
Discovering asexuality existed and being able to identify as such, learning I wasn't broken, really changed my life. It was such a great relief and really helped me come into myself. Along with that, I discovered that I am biromantic. I also got educated on the queer community in general, and devoted myself to providing more representation in literature, especially for the less common/well-known gender and sexuality spectrums.
Meeting and befriending the amazing Eph. We're going to do great things, just you wait and see. Comics and graphic novels and illustrated novels galore. It's a fantastic future.
I also, on a whim and looking to finally embrace my newfound courage, signed up for an online dating site, and lo and behold, actually met someone amazing. Instant connection. It's a great way to end one decade and start another, and fingers crossed it continues to be as wonderful as it is now.
Overall, the past decade has definitely been one for struggle and change. I've seen some wins and some losses, but I'm still here, and I think that's something to celebrate. At least for me.
