Real Life Intrusions

A very bad authoress I am, but I must claim that it is purely not my fault. A series of Real Life Intrusions made my amount of free time dwindle into the negative numbers. But I have returned now, and I am back on track with everything. Here's a short update!
I did finish paring down The Requiem of Janus. When I sent it in to Torquere Press, it was just under 117K, perfectly under the 120K maximum. I ripped out an entire chapter that I plan on reworking and posting as a single oneshot. I also came up with several ideas for side pieces, including one starring Alfred Deham. I think that readers will enjoy them, as soon as I get around to writing them. If Torquere Press rejects it, I plan on submitting to Samhain Publishing, whom I hear is really hurting for m/m right now. So maybe I can get lucky with them. *fingers crossed*
Shattered Children has been completed, and with that, the whole Shattered Arc draws to a close. FINALLY. Four years after it started, I can stamp a complete on that monster and celebrate. I miss it a little now that I don't have to work on it, but I'm still pretty proud for finishing what is nearly 200 chapter in length (altogether) and some of those chapters are almost 20 pages. Some of them even more. Whew. At least I know I can finish War of the Animum.
In other news, NaNoWriMo starts in November. Huzzah! That means fanfiction and original updates will vanish for November, though I will keep this lj up to date on my NaNo progress. I'm doing the unthinkable by attempting 100K. Two different stories. Though if I don't finish the second one, as long as I hit 100K, I'll be happy. I'm certain that I'll finish the first one. Of course, I'll be satisfied with just one being finished.
The two stories I'm attempting are called Shady Hill and Untitled (Formerly Minutes to Midnight).
Shady Hill is an Urban Fantasy. It tells the story of Mikha'el through the eyes of his bodyguard -- Jasper -- and two gangs as they struggle over the same piece of land due to rumors of a famous treasure being hidden there. Behind that plot is Mikha'el's story. His rise to the leader of his gang - Rhapsody -- and the reasons behind his bloody rise. He wants to end all fighting for the sake of his best friend, who was killed as a result of the gang wars. Unbeknownst to Mikha'el, Ta'oma was actually leader of the other gang -- Nocturne -- and was killed because of his associations with Mikha'el by his very own gang. It's a very mainstream fic. I drew heavily from such inspirations like Banana Fish the manga and Shanghai, July 1999 the manga, as well as duology Erland (my own work) and of course, my sister was a strong influence as well. I'm very intrigued by it!
Untitled (formerly Minutes to Midnight) is an original remake of my Bleach fanfiction Minutes to Midnight and stars a female protagonist as she switches sides in a war and falls in love with the second-in-command. Same basic principle as the fanfiction original but set in a different world with different characters and different reasonings. There's a battle of the classes and magic as well as betrayal and justice. Interesting piece and an erotic romance, which means I'll finally have some het erotica to market. Go me!
I don't know which I'll write first. Or if I'll alternate between the two to give myself some variety. I haven't decided yet.
So that's what's been going on here.
I'm dedicating myself to working The Sweetest Downfall and Chronicles of Valentine right now, since they are so close to being done. As well as plotting out Shady Hill and Untitled.
