New Year!

Yay! It's 2010!

I don't know if I'm too enthusiastic about that. Hopefully, it will be better than 2009. Which, 2009, wasn't that bad. But it wasn't great either. Just kinda... blah. I mean, I did welcome a nephew so that's something to celebrate. Right?

Anyway, on to writing news, that's what's important here. I really need to get back in the habit of my story/manga/fanfiction reviews. And I'll probably start with the fanfic reccs too since I know a lot of awesome writers that need a hell of a lot more attention. *grins*

Ahem, firstly, Chronicles of Valentine is COMPLETE. Finally! At a whopping fourteen chapters + epilogue and prologue. And I must say, I'm rather pleased with how it turned out. I didn't manage the Vincent/Squall since I turned Vincent more into a father figure for Squall -- isn't it strange how much Squall resembles a cross between Reeve and Vincent?

Instead, I ended up with a Vincent/Seifer pairing that works and I really don't know how, but it's awesome. I almost want to write a bit more with them. Who knows? Maybe I'll get a oneshot idea or something.

In other news, I'm kinda hop-skipping around to see what I should work on next. I finished another chapter of The Butterfly Effect and two chapters of Hourglass for the WOTA series. Edits have begun on Infinity's End Part One so I should start offering that soon. And edits have begun on Prisoner of Conscience as well.

I'm working on several drabbles for the Seireitei Monogatari series, some of them HOT. And the requested Sora/Riku oneshot for my 30K hit on the site. All in all, I'm a busy little bee and I hope to continue this success as the New Year comes in rather slow and tediously. I spent it at work. Not so fun.

I promise to bring some kind of review in the next few days or so! Don't know of what yet, but it'll be of something.

It's the story that won't die, argh! lol

Yeah, so here I am, wading through chapters thirteen and fourteen, when I expected this durned thing to finish at chapter ten. I had to rewrite the epilogue because the pairings didn't go the way I had originally intended... and I sneakily rewrote the prologue (well, removed a sentence and changed a color) to reflect the vagueness in who Vincent eventually ends up with. But I'm so close to the end. Just gotta finish these two scenes and then I can slap a complete on the bastard. Phew.

In the meantime, I've finally found an editor for the Erland duology (that's Prisoner of Conscience and Best Intentions for those unfamiliar). Now I can get it spic and span so I can start sending it off to publishers. Hmmm, what to do next then?

I think I shall start editing Aftermath and trying to finish up some requests and other stories. Huzzah!

So, in an effort to better meet my writing needs, I'm working on whatever the hell I want...

And whatever the hell I want right now is Chronicles of Valentine for some reason unknown to me. I'm determined to finish this damn thing.

And yet, here I am, in chapter 11 and 12 (heading into 13) when I fully expected it to end at chapter 10. And gah, but it's not going where I want it to either. Apparently, the muses wanted something more than what I planned for two years ago.

I asked for Vincent/Squall. I get Seifer/Vincent.

WTF?

Instead of bringing Squall out of his shell, Vincent has become like a surrogate father to the oblivious Squall, helping pave the way for the Zell/Squall that's creeping in here ahead of schedule.

Which means I'm going to have to rewrite/alter the epilogue. Dammit.

It's the story that won't end. Though I have a feeling my readers won't be complaining.

Wahooo! I submitted yesterday night (early this morning) and confirmed my 81K manuscript. Yes! I am finished.

Admittedly, it needs LOTS of works and there are plotholes so big you could drive Optimus Prime through them, but still, it's done. Now I can take a break and return to something else. Namely finishing up some of these random and waiting projects.

To Do List:

1) Finish The Sweetest Downfall
2) Write the Byakuya/Ulquiorra trade
3) Write Birthday Gift Fic for Ariel
4) Start Seph/Tseng drabble series for Margyy
5) Finish Chronicles of Valentine

Them be my goals for December. Wish me luck!

Also, I think I will begin posting The Sweetest Downfall on here, as well as future new fics. I hope to eventually post on lj alone and nowhere else. We'll see how successful I am.

A very bad authoress I am, but I must claim that it is purely not my fault. A series of Real Life Intrusions made my amount of free time dwindle into the negative numbers. But I have returned now, and I am back on track with everything. Here's a short update!

Incredibly Long Update Here... )
dracoqueen22: (welcometohell)
I updated again! Huzzah! Again, only fanfiction as I haven't written anything original in a while. Not to mention my site is in the midst of undergoing reconstruction. Trying times. Sorry!

Fanfiction:

1) The Beautiful Lie Chapter Eight: Decision
2) Seireitei Monogatari Drabble 132 Thanks for the Memories

Fanfiction News!

I've made it a personal goal to finish Shattered Children, so I'm focusing exclusively on that. So far, I've managed to finish chapter 14 and I'm about halfway done with chapter 15. There's only 16, the interlude, 17, 18 and the epilogue to go. At this pace, I might finish before September. Hopefully. I do need to re-read through the story to make sure I'm not contradicting that (though I went a tad too far back and started rereading Shattered Dreams, lol)

Afterwards, I plan on devoting time to finishing The Sweetest Downfall and Chronicles of Valentine. I'm hoping to knock some of this unfinished business out of the way to leave me more time to work on other stuff.

My goal? To only be considered actively working on six fics at max (including original fiction). Right now I'm working on fourteen and that's just too much. I don't have enough time to get anything since I'm spreading it over too many. So, to finish a bunch of half-started and get to the good stuff.

More to come later.

At Last!

At last! I have started back work on Shattered Children. My goal is to actually finish the damn thing. lol. It's been more than a year since I started it, and almost five years since I started the series itself.

This chapter is giving me hell. It's been so long since I worked on it that I've actually forgotten characterization. Yikes. And I might have to go back and reread from the beginning. Argh. At least there's only... six? seven? more chapters to go until the end. And then I can finally stamp COMPLETE on the Shattered Arc. Which I occasionally wonder if anyone is even still reading. lol. I started this journey way back in 2005 as my first full-length fic and it morphed into a huge arc that I didn't think would ever end. With a wide variety of unusual pairings -- Reeve/Reno, Sephiroth/Tseng, Yuffie/Demi!Nanaki, Zack/Elena, and more! -- and a never-ending story it seems like. From FF7 the game all the way up until a redux of Advent Children. Exhausting.

Here's hoping I can keep the ball rolling.

Coming up next, work on Chronicles of Valentine as well as finishing the last edits for The Seeker. So much to do, so little time.

dracoqueen22: (mytimeisjustbeginning)
24760K words and counting! Here I was worried that it wouldn't be long enough, but I'm almost at my goal of 30K with several chapters more to go. Some scenes took longer to write than I would have thought.

Annnnnd, I've gotten a faint idea for a prequel to this. Something with het romance, of course, since it'll be between the Seeker and the King. Two people, a chance encounter, and the both of them carrying secrets. She doesn't say who she is, he doesn't say who he is. A night of passion leads to several more nights of uncommitted passion, with one or the other constantly creeping out of the bed before the morning comes. Don't worry there isn't your traditional "She got pregnant, oh noes, what does she do?" or anything like that. It's just a simple matter of emotions slowly developing, with the poor king trying to figure out how to woo a woman who isn't like any other. She doesn't respond to flowers or pretty gifts or candied words of endearment. She responds to blood and battle and the heat of the moment. What convinces the Seeker to lay down her mantle and take up life at his side? We'll have to see. *devious smirk* Does it at least sound interesting?

I've got a couple of other heterosexual romances in the plotting stages, very, very different from Harlequin, I assure you. In fact, I'm hard pressed to call some of them women because they act too much like men. But then, people tell me all the time that I think and act like a man sometimes, so it's not necessairily a bad thing. Makes things interesting.

I've also got a couple new slashy stories I'm working on as well. I need something to replace the Requiem of Janus. But I also need to knock out some unfinished stuff first. We'll see how things go.

Fanfiction writing is progressing at a steady clip. I'm on chapter five of The Sweetest Downfall so I"m working on completing that. It's shaping up to be quite different than what I originally suspected, with hints of there being actual developing feelings between Renji and Gin before circumstance separates them and Renji focuses on Kira. Just goes to show how the heart can be so labyrinthine. I'm rather fond of it.

I haven't forgotten about my FF7 stuff. As soon as I finish The Seeker, I plan to focus my efforts on finishing Shattered Children, and then work on something else, only to come back and focus on Chronicles of Valentine.

I've been focusing on finishing the unfinished stuff lingering on my harddrive. I have some requests that I still haven't managed -- a lingering Sukisho! request from about two years ago is only the start of it. I owe a Byakuya/Ulquiorra for a story trade. And my banner-maker is owed another Sephiroth/Tseng. Ah, so much to write, so little time.

The Seeker was briefly put on hold for the past week and the rest of this one while I performed some necessary catching up for my fanfiction. My beta also drove down for a visit, so we've been pounding out plots for a good many of my fanfiction, and I've gotten out of some awful ruts for The Butterfly Effect, The Beautiful Lie and I've FINALLY finished Unwritten. So once it gets beta'ed, expect that to start showing up in some updates.

Still no word on my FF7 stories, though. I figure, once I finish out The Seeker, I'm going to pull up Shattered Children and try to pound out a chapter of that since it's been almost two months since I updated. Ouch. Usually, I'm more constant than that, but I ran out of stock chapters and got stuck on my current one. And then Chronicles of Valentine took over.

Lots of smut got written in Bleach though. A lovely threesome (IchigoxRenjixRukia). Another in the works (AizenxUraharaxIchigo). Some UkiHitsu love. Some UraIchigo love. Another threesome in the works (ShunsuixNanaoxUkitake) got a whole stream of them coming.

I've also been steadily tearing through the final edits to The Requiem of Janus (on chapter 26/29 right now) and I've started plotting out some of Hourglass for War of the Animum.

Busy, busy, busy. There's just not enough time in the day.

dracoqueen22: (neverthoughtitdbelikethis)
So talks are still going well. I'm at about 28K with my extended version of Monster and really, I think you guys will love it. It's just as good as the original with a nice, twisty ending.

I've started plotting my extended version of The Seeker, and wow, I've decided that it fits in perfectly with my War of the Animum universe, so you can expect to see some connections there. I think I'll even have Frost show up! *cackles madly*

According to my publisher, the extended versions of The Seeker, Monster, and The Devil's Wife will be available in e-book format, for purchase online. If The Phoenix Curse or any of my other larger stories are accepted they will be print-to-order. Very exciting!

I'm still working on editing through The Requiem of Janus. I have someone looking it over now for plot crap. And I'm going to do some more ripping and tearing. I've still got about 30K to go before it's an acceptable length. It's still at a massive 150K words, which is the largest of any original fiction I've written. *boggled*

In the meantime, my fanfiction writing has stalled to a halt. Well, except for Chronicles of Valentine which I'm about halfway through the seventh part after just posting the sixth. *wipes sweat from brow*

More updates to come as I find time! I'll keep you posted!

Update!
