24760K words and counting! Here I was worried that it wouldn't be long enough, but I'm almost at my goal of 30K with several chapters more to go. Some scenes took longer to write than I would have thought.
Annnnnd, I've gotten a faint idea for a prequel to this. Something with het romance, of course, since it'll be between the Seeker and the King. Two people, a chance encounter, and the both of them carrying secrets. She doesn't say who she is, he doesn't say who he is. A night of passion leads to several more nights of uncommitted passion, with one or the other constantly creeping out of the bed before the morning comes. Don't worry there isn't your traditional "She got pregnant, oh noes, what does she do?" or anything like that. It's just a simple matter of emotions slowly developing, with the poor king trying to figure out how to woo a woman who isn't like any other. She doesn't respond to flowers or pretty gifts or candied words of endearment. She responds to blood and battle and the heat of the moment. What convinces the Seeker to lay down her mantle and take up life at his side? We'll have to see. *devious smirk* Does it at least sound interesting?
I've got a couple of other heterosexual romances in the plotting stages, very, very different from Harlequin, I assure you. In fact, I'm hard pressed to call some of them women because they act too much like men. But then, people tell me all the time that I think and act like a man sometimes, so it's not necessairily a bad thing. Makes things interesting.
I've also got a couple new slashy stories I'm working on as well. I need something to replace the Requiem of Janus. But I also need to knock out some unfinished stuff first. We'll see how things go.
Fanfiction writing is progressing at a steady clip. I'm on chapter five of The Sweetest Downfall so I"m working on completing that. It's shaping up to be quite different than what I originally suspected, with hints of there being actual developing feelings between Renji and Gin before circumstance separates them and Renji focuses on Kira. Just goes to show how the heart can be so labyrinthine. I'm rather fond of it.
I haven't forgotten about my FF7 stuff. As soon as I finish The Seeker, I plan to focus my efforts on finishing Shattered Children, and then work on something else, only to come back and focus on Chronicles of Valentine.
I've been focusing on finishing the unfinished stuff lingering on my harddrive. I have some requests that I still haven't managed -- a lingering Sukisho! request from about two years ago is only the start of it. I owe a Byakuya/Ulquiorra for a story trade. And my banner-maker is owed another Sephiroth/Tseng. Ah, so much to write, so little time.
